How does a 3D printer work? One click

A 3D printer melts a plastic thread and lays it down layer by layer, until the object is finished. With The Genesys it takes one click: choose the object, press Print, the printer makes it.

Thread, heat, layers

Think of a key hook. It starts as a plastic thread, the filament. The thread goes into a hot nozzle and melts. The nozzle moves and draws the first layer on the bed. Then the second, on top. Then the third. Layer by layer, the hook grows. When it stops, it's ready to hang. A pen holder, a phone stand, a spare part: they're all made this way.

The step that stops everyone: slicing

With any printer, there's a job in between before you print. It's called slicing. A program cuts the object into layers and writes instructions for that machine. Temperature, speed, supports: you choose them. Get one setting wrong and the print fails. Hours lost, plastic wasted. This is where many people give up. And the printer ends up in a cupboard.

With The Genesys, there's no slicing

We do it for you. Every object in the catalogue comes ready for your printer. No programs to open. No settings to choose. Hermes, the small hub in the kit, connects the printer. It arrives ready and connects by itself. You choose. It sends the print to the printer. The printer works.

One click, and it's in your home

  1. Open the catalogue: tens of thousands of objects, always new.
  2. Choose what you need.
  3. Press Print.

Choose in a minute. The print starts right away. You have it the same day. A print takes a few hours: meanwhile, get on with your day. Before, you ordered it and waited three days. Now you press Print.

Why this is better

  • Nothing to learn. If you can use a phone, you can print.
  • Nothing to get wrong. We set the right settings.
  • No courier. The object is made in your home.
  • No "out of stock". The part you can't find anymore, you print.
  • A printer that works. It doesn't sit gathering dust.

Every printer connected with Hermes joins the first distributed factory: many homes, one catalogue.
