Your first print after months away: choose a simple return

After months away, your first print should have a goal that is easy to explain: something to put on your table, use in a hobby or give someone. Return to your machine's instructions, then choose a compatible project. If Hermes supports your model, The Genesys can prepare a catalogue file in the cloud and take you from choosing it to starting the print.

Return to the manual before the catalogue

A printer left idle needs checking according to the manufacturer's directions. This guide does not replace machine procedures or prescribe universal temperatures, calibration or maintenance settings. If you notice a problem, address it before expecting a new project to demonstrate that everything works.

Record the exact model and accessories you actually have available. Do not assume your memory of an old setup matches what is there today. The first project needs a clear situation rather than a collection of accumulated experiments.

Choose a result you will use

Open the catalogue and find an object for one place. Stands, organisers and decorations are directions to explore; always check what the listing actually offers. Choose according to use, compatibility and available information. An object that looks small in a photograph is not automatically quick to print: use a measured time where provided.

The model may be free or paid. Either way, printing requires Hermes and the journey does not include a download. You can browse before buying hardware, which helps you discover whether there is something you want to make.

Keep a record of the test

Write down your chosen object, machine and the material specified in the listing. After printing, describe the result you observed. If something does not match, retain the context instead of changing several variables at once. A precise note also helps you make a clear request for assistance.

The purpose of returning is not to print every abandoned project. It is to create a pleasant opportunity to use the machine again. A first print with a place in your day gives you a concrete reason to make another. Start with the catalogue and choose the result you want to see taking shape.

Make your return visible

Choose a place for the print and prepare the space before the object is ready. It is a simple gesture, but it changes the expectation: you are preparing something to use rather than making a test to forget. When the result arrives, compare it with your original idea and decide what you would like to make next.

In the Genesys journey, the cloud prepares the catalogue file for the supported machine. Hermes receives it encrypted and manages printing. The project may be free or paid; hardware and filament are still needed. Choosing from the catalogue does not provide a file to download and take elsewhere.

Your next step

Your next project starts by connecting your printer to The Genesys with Hermes.
